What do you love about working with 1001?
I love working with creative, faithful, passionate, new leaders, dreaming about a new future for the church.
What is your favorite ice cream?
Coffee. In fact, I’m not a real ice cream fan – so I’m going to say, coffee ice cream, without the ice cream part.
Where is a place you've never been that you'd love to see?
Southern Spain and northern Africa – in one trip.
A book you've read/are reading you could recommend to planters?
So many books, so little time – sigh. But, OK, here are two of my favorites:
-
The Missional Leader by Alan Roxburgh and Fred Romanuk. A new kind of church, focused outward into the community, requires a new kind of leader.
-
Growing Local Missionaries: Equipping Churches to Sow Shalom in Their Own Backyards by Dan Steigerwald. This book equips people to move into their neighborhoods as “missionaries of shalom.”
What is a "third space" where you spend time building relationships with people where you live and work?
The front porches and sidewalks of our neighborhood.
A Bible verse that undergirds your ministry/life?
Luke 10:1-9: Jesus sends the disciples out into all the towns and villages where he himself intended to go. It provides a manual for local missionaries.
